This study analyzed the oral narratives of 10 Filipino comfort women. Guided by Ernest Bormann’s Symbolic Convergence Theory, Joseph Campbell’s four functions of a myth, and G.S. Kirk’s typology of functions of myth, the researcher analyzed the narratives based on these four units of analysis: the historical experiences, the mythical expressions, the myth, and the rhetorical vision.
